general thoughts on people

If people is everything, then who should you care about?
- Optimize for total values, happiness, and good. Hang around with people who understand you, make you laugh, and make you a better person.
- People shouldn’t be characterized by the material benefit they give. They should be characterized by the time they spend on/with/for you.
- No one owes you anything. No matter how much effort you give, or time you put in for others, one must realise nobody needs to give you anything. The actions of others are out of your control.
- If you know someone, be optimistic about the intent of their actions and logical about the outcome. If you don’t know someone, be logical about the intent of their actions and skeptical of the outcome. Most people are not evil, just busy.
- Many people want things from you. These people are not evil, they are just strivers. Be skeptical towards most who take, and understand who you’d want to help and why you’d want to help them.
- Forgive people who wronged you, especially if they were close friends. Too many friendships end with petty fights. Sunk-cost.
- Chase people who are worth chasing, even if it means sacrificing self respect. Self respect is just another medium of ego.
